If you have summer music camps or offer group classes over the summer, you probably have found yourself searching for various activities for students.
One of the issues with having camps or group lessons over the summer is that there are usually several different levels of students in one group.
Below are some ideas for summer music camps that can be done with students of mixed ages.

Ensemble Music
The ensemble music on my site is arranged so that students of various levels can play together. Ensemble music can work even without a piano lab!
You can have 2-3 students play on one piano in different octaves. Or if you have two pianos, you can have at least four students playing together at the same time. You can even have some students singing while others play.
Here are a few of the most popular ensemble music arrangements:
Rhythm Activities
- Shake & Tap – Great for private lessons but can also be used in groups. Have older students correct younger students or let younger students play “teacher” and correct the older students.
- Make your own rhythms using music dice. Younger students can use more basic note values while older students can start to use the dotted quarter – eighth note rhythm or sixteenth notes.
- Rhythm Bingo – You can separate the students into different groups for a simple game of rhythm bingo. There are two different levels available: Level 1 & Level 2

Musical Alphabet & Scales
- Alphabet & Accidental Cards – Younger students can learn steps/skips in the musical alphabet (both up and down), while older students can learn about scales.
