Hi, I’m Lauren!

I’m a pianist, piano teacher, harpist, and creator of Piano With Lauren. I’ve been teaching piano for about 20 years. I love helping students become confident, independent musicians—and helping other piano teachers find practical ways to do the same.

I earned both my Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Master of Music in Piano Performance from Loyola University New Orleans. My teaching is grounded in strong music-reading skills and healthy technique. I also believe lessons should give students the tools to enjoy making music for the rest of their lives.

Over the years, Piano With Lauren has also become a place for piano teachers to find teaching ideas and resources. I write about piano pedagogy, create printable teaching materials and workbooks, and develop resources designed to make lesson planning easier and more effective. I also created Beyond the Lesson Book, a course that gives teachers an easy roadmap for the first year of beginner piano lessons.

In addition to piano, I also play the harp. I began studying harp in 2015 after wanting to learn the instrument for years, and it quickly became an important part of my musical life. Today, I perform on harp throughout the New Orleans area for weddings, events, and other special occasions. More about my harp playing is on www.laurenharp.com
