A friend of mine asked me to make a rhythm chart that shows the length of various notes. In the chart below, you’ll see that the duration of each note is represented by the length of the box in relation to the whole note. For example, the length of the box for a half note is half the size of a whole note.

You can print out the chart on thick paper or laminate it to make cards. Using the cards with students will give you a teaching aid that helps students learn the duration of note values. You can also have your students create various rhythms using the cards.

I’ve made both a black and white version and a colored version.
