In the past, I’ve used mini-sticker charts from Carson-Dellosa as incentives for my students. I wrote about it in a previous post. Whenever students completed the charts, they could pick one prize from a bucket of various goodies.
This year, I decided to use little note cards instead. The note cards are smaller and a little easier to organize on my bulletin board. I post all of the cards on the bulletin board because students love to compare charts with each other. I use different colored cards for each day of the week. Monday students are purple, Tuesday students are another color, and so forth.
Each time a student finishes a page (whether it be theory, a piece, or sight reading), they receive a sticker. After 15 stickers, they can have a prize from the prize bucket.
Students are really motivated by stickers! They count their stickers each week and note how many more they need until a reward.
