Lessons for Children & Teens

Piano lessons are available for children beginning around age five through the teen years. Lessons are tailored to each student’s individual learning needs, musical interests, and goals.

Students develop a well-rounded musical foundation that includes note reading, rhythm, music theory, technique, and repertoire. As students progress, the goal is not only to learn new music, but to develop the skills they need to become confident, independent musicians.

Every student learns differently. Lesson materials and repertoire are chosen with the individual student in mind, and students have opportunities to explore a variety of musical styles.

Beginning students build strong foundational skills from the start, while more experienced and transfer students continue developing their technique, musicianship, and repertoire at an appropriate level.

Lessons are scheduled at the same day and time each week and are available in 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lengths. Most beginning students start with a 30-minute weekly lesson.

Lessons are held at the Piano With Lauren studio in Harahan. Online lessons are also available when needed.

Students have opportunities throughout the year to perform and share their music. Participation in performances and other musical events is encouraged as an opportunity to set goals, build confidence, and celebrate progress. Participation in these events is always optional.

Piano With Lauren has a team of experienced instructors who work with students of different ages and levels.
